Schools Out Tour Wrap Up
So tour is done and I assume everyone feels as fuckin busted as i do, but it was well worth it, first all thanks to all involved, all who came to shows and purchased merch, we appreciate that shit, our TM and merch guys, our sound dude Liam, thanks so much.
So we started with the drive from Melb to Bris while the DN boys flew from perth, bout halfway through i realized I’d left my suitcase outside the pub i was picked up from, so depressed I wanted to cry, shit got sorted tho, 24 hr drive and we arrive just in time for load in at the first show, was a bit of an awkward one playing in a gym, i prefer dark dingy clubs but it went well.
Always love some downtime in brissy, we were put up by our friend Ali Manners and spent the next day getting haircuts, tattoos and strong.

NZ Herald Reckin Tourettes Rulez
Its been a busy year for the Breakin Wreck boys with 5 releases out before the year has ended, but the title of Breakin Wreckwordz Artist Of The Year would have to go to my good friend Dominic aka Tourettes.
His album 'Who Said You Can't Dance To Misery' has been picking up acclaim all year long. My vision for the label to be nz's most progressive hip hop label wouldn't be possible without the creative genius of this filthy, frank speaking, art-fag, and the people at the NZ Herald seem to think so too, coz not only was this there 12th best album of the year, but their first hip hop pick!
Fuckin oats.

Can't Dance To Misery in Listeners Top 10 of 2009
Congratulations to Tourettes whose album 'Who Said You Cant Dance To Misery' was listed in The Listener Top 10 albums of 2009. One of the songs off his album (Letting Go ft. Jay Roacher) was also listed in the 14th best song of the decade in the latest Real Groove Magazine too. I didn't really feel there other picks for that tho so can't really let it hold too much weight.. haha. but if it was my track i'd be yelling it from the shed tops.

All My Friends Are Half Dead
Me and Oracle wrote and recorded this song on Saturday called 'all my friends are half dead'. it was inspired by an album called 'all my friends are dead' and the state of our friends. mawby hasnt head it yet and when he does hes gonna tell me the recording is fucked and the mixing is horrible. he'll make me take it down, and then he'll re-record and wait a year before mixing it. so listen to it now while you can.

USUAL SUSPECTS – HIRE LEARNING
If Santa doesn't come thru for you this December don't fret because positive rap duo Usual Suspects are giving you their long awaited debut album for Christmas! An official thanks to fans, this release is the Usual Suspects practicing what they preach.
From ironic glee to geek faced braggadocio, Hire Learning is a show case of Saia and Sam’s maturity in music and mind (and spirit). Their trade mark sense of humour and quirk-hop beats remain intact but the music has developed beyond punch lines to include social commentary and a broader palette of ideas and experiences all of which come through in the album’s 12 tracks.
With Saia at his beat-making-prime (as well as rapping up a storm) and Sam exploring both personal and political themes in song and spoken word, the album will give you something with substance to ponder over this holiday season while everyone else endures carols and Keith Richards .
The mainly self produced album also features guest production from Breakin Wreckwordz in-house producer Exile and rap collaborations with Ethical (Kidz in Space), Tyson Tyler, and Arme amongst others.
This Christmas, be grateful for musicians like these.

Day Dreams Start Fires
Day Dreams Start Fires, the successful collaboration between poet and artist is returning to The Basement from November 24.
Mastermind Dominic Hoey a.k.a Tourettes is once again fusing his words with ten local New Zealand artists, including internationally renowned Misery, graffiti world champion Askew, plus Otis Frizzell, Cut Collective, Gasp, and many more. This November The Basement is set to bring you the second installment of this unique art experience. If you missed last year’s show or are yet to be enlightened, Day Dreams Start Fires can be described as a fusion of two creative spheres – art and poetry.
Tourettes infuses the indecency of hip hop with the emotional intensity of poetry. His rawness, sincerity and candidness often leave you feeling simultaneously elated and melancholic, but none the less enlightened. He released his second album this year, with his single reaching number one on the NZ independent charts.
“The idea for the show came to me after one of my poems was made into an A2 poster for Morph magazine”. Shortly after, Tourettes began seeing the posters everywhere; people’s living rooms, cafes, even a couple on Facebook pages. He quickly realized that there was real interest in poetry presented as art. Dom approached some of his favourite artists with the idea of an exhibition and a fistful of poems for them to choose from. Most did not require much persuasion; they knew this was an incredible opportunity to do something truly unique and creative. Artists include:
Misery
Otis Frizzell
Gasp
Deus
Cut Collective
Component
Enforce One
Trust Me
Flox
Valente
Krystal Gallagher
Tom McMillian
“An important aspect of this re-contextualization of art is that the artists interpret their own meaning from the poems. The artist’s diversity as to how they interpret the poems visually is the key to what makes this concept so unique and special.”
The Basement is once again proud to present this exhibition and sees it as not only a way to promote the artists involved, but to bring its experience to a wider audience. Creating awareness for this type of urban art is fundamental to the creation of this exhibition. A1 poster prints of the works will be available to purchase for only $70, making the art extremely accessible to those who otherwise couldn’t afford it.
SPECIAL THANKS TO: Tiger Beer, Huffer, 95BFM, 42 Below Vodka, Cheese On Toast, Factory Frames and Elephant Publicity.

BWW Throw Back..
BWW Throw Back pt 1.
I just realized that I got a whole bunch of pictures collected since around 2002 from various people who had posted online from gigs or from photo shoots etc.
I thought I'd get on a nostalgic tip and start up a series of throw back posts of photographic documentation of some of the adventures of the early BWW.
I remember these days as the days we used to bus/scab a ride everywhere because neither me, Riz (Quest) or Sam had a ride or licence. Useless dudes. On this particular day Jaz had told everyone to meet at this park (which im pretty sure is in Newton somewhere). Because we were subject to the reign of the superior Auckland public transport system we were dutifully late all the time. This day was no exception. I think this was the first time I had met the top bloke Jamie McCready who over the years would become our Still Image Consultant (brotographer). Shot Jamie.
I was going for the awkward-I-dont-know-how-to-pose-maybe-if-I-lean-into-Penfold-something-magical-will-happen look on this shot. Riz opting for the pretend-Im-not-looking-but-I-know-youre-shooting pose.
Again, the awkward approach. Riz doing his thing quite well. Jaz and Penfold trying to be one with nature.
Penfold won.
.
Insomniacs. Remember those guys? Bro you's look young as.

Louie Knuxx news ect…
So my studio gear has finally arrived in melbourne, hoping to have it set up in the next few weeks so i can begin work on a few project…
My sophomore album ‘ A Funeral For Two’ is well into the writing stages, got about 6-7 songs fully written and ready to go and roughly 50 half-written or conceptualized songs to fuck with, so excited to get this done, the production im gonna be working with is amazing this time round, specially considering what i had to scrounge for my debut LP.
Got a new Grips & Tonics cd in the works with my man JJ Peters . We’re feeling like the new material we are writing is hugely evolved since we dropped the album, cant wait to get this one poppin.
Also got my fams Kid Shelleen and Tewaa working on some shit and a mixtape involving all the aforementioned and more in the works, expect new music soon and tours and other exciting shit.
Peep all my music links to the right if you aint familiar with my shit.
Peace

Poetry - nazis national voters and televison
By Tourettes
Screams
Wake the dead in my ghost town
watch em stagger to supermarkets feeding gapping chest wounds
Below us Rivers of oily black karma run through budest sewers
Every night I lose myself in forests of digital waste and denial
Did you know Sleep is time travel, think about it
I am space pilot hurtling through sunbeams at a million breaths a second
Nothing is ever what it is ever
Keep this game running on token gestures
The poor are wing clipped canneries thrown into nightmares
if they emerge black lungs sucking air
Then mass production begins in earnest
I Downloaded Mason snuff films and overdub a laugh track
Everything is hilarious with a little distance
when I woke up tomorrow it stunk of yesterdays leftover promise
I was not amused
I know people who voted for national and own cute pets
Your fooling no one!
I think my cell phone wants to kill me
Fact is solidified fiction
All the better to beat you into compliance
The headlights of a howling future hurtle towards me now
There is darkness on both sides of this road
I take the middle line
Accidental martyr
Waving a tattered life insurance policy
The TV grins and preaches with Nazi innocence
I understand completely and feel nothing
Only the broken and addicts have a word for control

Poem: Boxing Day Vulture by Tourettes
He nestled amongst the wrapping paper
Although its sex was undermined
It had been decided it was a he by all concerned
“Look at that filthy fucking animal” said A
B shifted uncomfortably
“Oh don’t say that in front of the child”
“I’ll bet my left testicle it has lice” A continued
The vulture stretched its wings
Knocking a decoration of the browning Christmas tree
The vulture had been a gift for C
It came in a brown box with the words
“Instant animal just add water”
Written in messy hand writing on the side
“It likes it” B said pointing at C
A finished his beer
“That fucking child doesn’t have the sense god gave a mule”
C watched the bird as it proceed to eat the decoration
It reached out and stroked the course feathers on its back
The creature shrieked
And bit the Childs hand
“That’s it” bellowed A rushing out of the room
He returned with the axe B had given him two Christmases past
The bird watched him with dodo survival logic
Rattling around his black eyes
A brought the axe down on the creature
Over and over again
Until the gift was reduced to a mushy paste
Tears washed the shock off C’s face
“Look what you’ve done” B said picking up the screaming child and carrying him out of the room
“It needs to harden up anyway” A said opening another beer
Although its sex was undermined
It had been decided it was a he by all concerned
“Look at that filthy fucking animal” said A
B shifted uncomfortably
“Oh don’t say that in front of the child”
“I’ll bet my left testicle it has lice” A continued

Whats in a name?
So I've recently been thinking of changing my rap name. I'm sort've over using 'Bishop' and have been for a while, plus theres also a number of other people who use the same rap alias e.g Bishop Lamont, Bobby Bishop (who is an actual gospel rapper haha) and Bishop Brigante among others.
I've been juggling between a handful of names (including the likes of 'Vowel Kilma' and 'Sam from Usual Suspects" and 'Sam from Usual Suspects BreakinWreckwordz' to name a few) and I think i'm gonna go with 'Samuel Benjamin'. Theres no overexaggerated mystery or far-fetched tale of triumph behind it, Sam's my first name and Benjamin is my middle name. Simple.
I think in order for an artist to stay fresh they need to keep reinventing themselves creatively and maybe something as simple as a name change could establish a brand new creative platform to work from. I'd like to think I've matured a little bit as a person and of course musically (from 'freedom of choice' and 'lock & load' anyway haha cringe) so Samuel Benjamin is a reflection of that maturation.
Thoughts?
