It was 60 years ago this week that the first 7-inch single was manufactured in New Zealand and local music website Cheese On Toast is celebrating the fact.
On Saturday it holds the first of a regular monthly band-club night at the Bacco Room on Nelson St where a strictly limited edition 7-inch single will be released with a different act on each side. To commemorate the release - this could be the only time you get to buy it - the bands on the record will play live.
The first Cheese On Toast Singles Club will feature rapper/poet Tourettes and the Drab Doo Riffs, the sci-fi-soul-punk band fronted by Supergroove's Karl Stevens.
The split 7-inch released on the night will be made up of Tourette's I Think Maybe I Miss You and the Drab Doo Riffs' I Wanna Be Spock/Motorscoot Scoot.
